Tweenworld.net Promises to Up the Game in Online Content for Tween Boys and Girls Ages 8-12 and New Opportunities for Advertisers, Content Sponsorship and Social Marketing.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) June 13, 2009

The online playing field is growing in places and spaces to attract tween age website visitors, boys and girls ages 8-12. Until now, the focus has been on video games, movies, music and yes -- even slime.

But now, there's a new player on the internet that is out to change the online game for tween website visitors as well as online corporate, government, and non-profit advertisers.

Tweenworld.net, launched in May, is a new online portal to demographically target tweens -- where kids are too young for this - but too old for that, and which we have all comfortably settled on by calling "tween."

"I truly believe that the tween age years are the first real life crossroad," says founder and Editor in Chief, Cheryl Munson, from the Atlanta area headquarters. "Choices, decisions, influences and influencers abound. Everything is critical, key and pivotal at this point in life. Tweens are charged and challenged to make what can be life-altering decisions. Their decisions can set the tone and stage for how they view themselves and the directions they take in life. The impact can be monumental in terms of how they prepare to enter the teen years - making choices, good or bad, right or wrong. And the resulting decisions can shape what happens to them for many years ahead."

Tweenworld.net enters a somewhat crowded room, with the great majority of current sites settling on one of two paths too: fun or education. The goal and vision for tweenworld.net is to bridge the gap between the two directions. Content spans from books, tv, movies, video games - to health, beauty, growing pains issues, community service and more. But it is the tone, design and structure of the site that makes it different, sets tweenworld.net apart, and provides a possibility to be a break-through in websites for tweens.

"While I was developing the site, one of my trusted advisors told me: don't make it look like homework. And I took that advice to heart while I was developing the content, editorial, design and tone for tweenworld.net."

And that she did. Tween site visitors are welcomed with pages that invite them to enter a variety of tween "worlds." Editorial titles are pithy and tweeny. Instead of "books" - the section is called "twink." Tweens get over the hurdle about reading a topic on health or food with titles like "tummy yummy" and "beauty and the bod."

"The real, ultimate goal is to empower tweens to be the main contributors to the content for tweenworld.net. We invite them to write, send pictures, videos - ask questions and get advice about what matters to them," Munson adds.

Like other sites, tweenworld also incorporates what works with this digitally driven tween age target audience. They get to view music videos, movie trailers and preview classic and newly released video games. Select pages incorporate polls on topics from beauty to how tweens feels about the economy, and how they feel about hot topics like bullying, school, teachers, parents, MBFs and BFFs.

Advertisers, government agencies and others are invited to get involved and engage with site visitors. The goal is to provide them with a much-needed portal for social marketing efforts - and opportunities to mix television ads with social marketing oriented content, across many categories -food to health, fashion to fitness, finance to entertainment, getting involved with public service and more.

The business model also incorporates plans for TweenFest and the TweenWorld Awards, where tweens, by their personal votes, will decide (as the site claims) - what's not and what's not.

Munson sums up her passion, drive and commitment to the launch of tweenworld.net by saying - "Tweens have power. They impact purchasing decisions for entire households, they impact legislation, education, corporate brands, new product development, innovation, and more. We want tweens to realize and activate their full personal power - as well as their collective power. We want to empower tweens - and let them have a fun while they do it in a safe online experience. Success for tweenworld.net is all about doing our part to insure that America's tweens grow up to become positive contributors to help make our country, and our world, better, safer, stronger - and most of all - inspired."
